Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea is an accomplished higher education leader with extensive experience in student affairs, academic administration and community engagement. She currently serves as President of Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan, a position she has held since 2014. Dr. Walker-Griffea is the first female and first African American president in the college’s history.Prior to joining Mott Community College, Dr. Walker-Griffea held leadership roles at Montgomery College in Maryland, where she served as Senior Vice President for Student Services, and at Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia, where she was Vice President for Student Affairs. Her career also includes positions at Houston Community College and Spokane Community College.Dr. Walker-Griffea is recognized for her commitment to student success, diversity, equity and inclusion. She has led initiatives to improve student retention, expand workforce development programs and strengthen partnerships with local businesses and organizations. Under her leadership, Mott Community College has received national recognition for its innovative programs and community impact.She holds a Ph.D. in Child Development from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Virginia State University and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Oklahoma State University.Dr. Walker-Griffea is active in several professional organizations, including the American Association of Community Colleges and the American Council on Education. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to higher education leadership, student engagement and social justice.She is dedicated to empowering students and fostering inclusive learning environments, making her a respected voice in the field of community college education.
