Daniel Jean, Ed.D., is the executive director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) and Academic Development at Montclair State University. With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, Jean is recognized for his commitment to supporting first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students.Jean oversees programs that provide academic, financial, and personal support to help students succeed and graduate. He is known for his innovative leadership, having developed initiatives such as the annual First-Generation College Student Summit and the EOF Summer Academy. Jean also serves as an adjunct professor, teaching courses on college success and leadership.A first-generation college graduate himself, Jean holds a doctorate in education from Seton Hall University, a master’s degree from Montclair State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College. He is a frequent speaker and workshop facilitator on topics including student retention, diversity, and educational equity.Jean has received numerous awards for his advocacy and service, including recognition from the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Professional Association and the New Jersey State Legislature. He is also the founder of Wordstravel.org, a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy and college access.Jean’s work reflects his passion for empowering students to achieve their academic and personal goals, making a lasting impact on the Montclair State University community and beyond.
