Dr. Michael Simeone is an associate research professor at Arizona State University, where he is affiliated with the School of Complex Adaptive Systems and the School for the Future of Innovation in Society. He also serves as a senior global futures scientist at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory. Simeone’s research focuses on data science, digital humanities, and interdisciplinary collaboration, with particular interest in how data and computation can be used to address complex societal challenges.
He has led and contributed to projects involving data visualization, computational analysis of cultural data, and the development of digital tools for research and education. Simeone’s work often bridges the gap between technology and the humanities, fostering partnerships across disciplines to explore new methods for understanding large-scale data.
Before joining ASU, Simeone held positions at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published research on topics such as digital archives, network analysis, and the ethical implications of data-driven research. Simeone is also active in mentoring students and collaborating with faculty on innovative research initiatives.
He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
