Marisol Cuéllar Mejía is a research fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), where she focuses on water policy and management. Her work centers on water resources, groundwater management, and the impacts of drought and climate change on California’s water systems. Cuéllar Mejía has contributed to research on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, agricultural water use, and the effects of water scarcity on rural communities.Before joining PPIC, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Davis, where she studied water resources and agricultural economics. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in agricultural and resource economics from UC Davis, as well as a B.S. in economics from Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru.Cuéllar Mejía’s research has informed policymakers, stakeholders, and the public on critical water issues facing California. She is recognized for her expertise in quantitative analysis and her commitment to advancing sustainable water management practices.
