Sparkle Springfield, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Health Sciences at Loyola University Chicago’s Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. Dr. Springfield specializes in public health, with a focus on health disparities, community-based participatory research, and chronic disease prevention among underserved populations.Dr. Springfield earned a PhD in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Public Health from Emory University, and a Bachelor of Science from Xavier University of Louisiana. Her research centers on addressing social determinants of health and promoting health equity, particularly in African American communities.At Loyola, Dr. Springfield teaches courses in public health and health disparities, mentoring students and guiding them in community-engaged research. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences on topics such as health equity, chronic disease prevention, and community engagement.Dr. Springfield is committed to advancing public health through research, teaching, and service, working closely with community organizations to develop and implement effective health interventions.
