Terrell L. Strayhorn, Ph.D., is a renowned scholar, educator and public speaker, recognized for his research on college student success, sense of belonging and equity in education. He serves as Professor of Education and Psychology at Virginia Union University, where he also directs the Center for the Study of HBCUs. Strayhorn is the author of over 12 books and more than 200 academic publications, including the influential work, College Students’ Sense of Belonging.Strayhorn has held faculty and leadership roles at several institutions, including The Ohio State University, LeMoyne-Owen College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and consultant, having delivered hundreds of talks worldwide and advised colleges, universities and organizations on diversity, inclusion and student engagement.A graduate of the University of Virginia, Strayhorn earned his bachelor’s degree in music and religious studies, master’s in education policy and Ph.D. in higher education. He has received numerous awards for his scholarship and service, including recognition as one of the nation’s top diversity scholars.Strayhorn is committed to advancing educational equity and supporting underrepresented students.
